PLEASE NOTE:
The conflicting paths I have intentionally explored over the last 70 years include past membership of the Church of Scientology. I appreciate and continue to make ethical use of its technology and processes, but it was intended to be a fast evolving aesthetic and ethical science of body, mind and spirit. For most members and ex members it fails to fulfil it’s most important promise, that of promoting truly integrated aesthetic and ethical life mastery.
The ego orientated management style of the organisation prevents this fulfilment, being presented in an extremely arrogant manner, ignoring the original spiritual basis of Scientology and turning the organisation from a service into a predominantly profit money making enterprise. At a time when non fundamentalist religions and philosophies are realising the importance of unity in diversity, the Church of Scientology still operates as a fundamentalist “I am better than anyone else” cult, isolating itself from spirituality and society.
Aesthetics:
This is best represented as a scale of emotional considerations, existing but tending to be suppressed in all human beings. Aesthetics ranges between ineffable beautifying (limitless appreciation of All That Is) and ugliness (total denial of beauty in All That Is. In terms of Polar Dynamics, the creation from the void of aesthetics and ethics are two of the earliest ineffable principles to manifest as aware-will-consciousness. Compare with the definition of Ethics. Love is the highest product of aesthetics and Trust is the highest product of Ethics. Both Aesthetics and Ethics are derivatives of Value.
Aberration
Twisted or bent out of alignment. The nature of consciousness as it evolves involves twisting or bending your interpretations of perceived phenomena every which way until eventually the consequences of such aberration leads you to discover the truth of any subject. In terms of consciousness this implies a direct and un-aberrated, experientially validated connection between physical perception and spiritual conception. Another way of describing aware-will-consciousness.
Abstract
An un measurable but nevertheless existing and experienced “quality”. For instance, The Creator, or whatever you might choose to call the “Being-ness” that continuously guides The Cosmos is abstract, even though He, She, It or They is the only logically assumed foundation for the existence of the Cosmos. All Qualities are abstract, including the aware-will that sustains each living creature.
Adolescence
One of the distinctly different stages through which we pass on our life’s journey. The stage during which we try to become individuals, but usually instead only go through a phase of reactive opposition to everything. A much more vulnerable time for an evolving human being than any of us would ever admit, until much later.
Anger
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as the deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves overwhelmingly more forceful others and which later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Anger is the emotion that accompanies the most intense attempt to control a situation.
Article:
A written description on a specific subject.
Assessment - of personality
An approximate measurement, a foundation from which life mastery, the change from suppressed personality to empowered individuality, can then develop and be both quantified and qualified.
Assessment – of self
The same thing as Self Esteem, an ongoing mental and emotional combined assessment of a person’s Self Worth, Self Love, Self Confidence and Self Image.
Attribute,
An un-measurable and therefore abstract consideration that one or more persons may have about self, about another or about something else. Not a physical feature and not an observable characteristic
Auditing:
A listening process in which a highly trained helper helps a seeker to re-visit all those incidents in their life when unwanted attitudes, emotions, sensations and pains have been experienced, for the purpose of eliminating all associated stresses.
Avarice
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as the deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves overwhelmingly more forceful others and which later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others.
Avarice is an obsession with wealth
Awareness:
In its native state, Awareness is singular undefined Source; in its evolved state, it is a measure of the effectiveness of Aware-Will. This Feminine Energy (Awareness) is possessed, to an infinitely variable extent, by everything that lives. One of the Subjective ways one might define the Creator, God/Goddess/All That Is (or whatever else one might choose to Label the “Cause” of the Universe), is in terms of the Attribute of Complete and Unlimited Awareness or Omnipresence.
Awareness is the essence of being. Not the physical, but rather the undefined or partially defined something which lies behind the physical, which objective evidence dictates must exist but for which all evidence is experientially real to seeker and subjectively intellectual at the most to all those who have not actually experienced it.
On a personal level, life is a totally subjective experience, totally dependent upon the combined Awareness (Undefined) and Beliefs (Defined) of the person concerned.
The current state of a person’s Awareness is the consequence of their, in the moment, intention to use or not to use their inherent capability of “Aware Will”. “Aware Will” is the Life, the Essence, the Person, not his Body and not his Mind.
Reality is individual. It is what one considers or believes to be real. When you perceive something, you experience your ability to be aware. When you conceive something, you experience your will in action. In order to experience truth, perception and conception must coincide, irrespective of which viewpoints are adopted.
At the level of Ego, Awareness is the opposite of Avoidance (i.e. Intentional Unawareness). Your state of awareness is a direct reflection of the state of your consciousness, which is, in turn, a direct but partial reflection of the workability of your Belief System.
It is important to become aware of what one truly believes. Most of what we claim to believe is merely what we have been indoctrinated into pretending to believe. It enables us to get along with our fellows, purely because we all have the same Beliefs, not because those beliefs are true and not because we really believe them. The fact that a belief doesn’t work is sufficient to prove it’s falsity. When someone is asked to substantiate their belief from their personal experience and cannot do so, this shows quite clearly that the belief is not truly believed, only blindly accepted Unfortunately we shut our eyes and ears to such blindness.
If we see beyond the way people outwardly express themselves and instead, will ourselves to see and feel them with our hearts, our awareness and consequently our consciousness will increase.
Aware-Will:
The nearest currently available definition of individual un-evolved essence (un-evolved Omnipresence or the Void) which essence, using the process of evolution of Consciousness (via belief systems) eventually becomes Aware-Will-Knowing or Omniscience. See definitions for Aware-Will-Knowing, Being, Knowing, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Omniscience & Power.
Aware-Will-Consciousness
The final valuable product of evolution. Aware-Will creates Consciousness and Aware-Will-Consciousness is the eventual completed product. In between Aware-Will and Aware-Will-Consciousness are all the possible in between experiential combinations of awareness, unawareness, willingness, unwillingness, partial consciousness and partial unconsciousness. Seeing everything just the way it is, with as little personal interpretation as possible, facilitates true individuality within Cosmic Unity
Aware-Will-Knowing :
For the individual, this is one of the three eventual outcomes of evolution. The same as individual omniscience or aware-will-consciousness, Within the context of each individual’s accumulated experiences everything is potentially knowable. When that potential has been realised, then that individual is omniscient relevant to their own accumulated lifetimes of experience. See definitions for Aware-Will, Being, Knowing, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Omniscience & Power.
Being:
The ability to fully exist as one’s own creations. For the individual, this is one of the three eventual outcomes of evolution. The same as individual omnipresence, Within the context of each individual’s accumulated creations (experiences) everything is potentially be-able. When that potential has been realised, then that individual is omnipresent relevant to their own accumulated lifetimes of experience. See definitions for Aware-Will, Aware-Will-Knowing, Knowing, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Omniscience & Power.
Belief System
A mind control system, partially self created and partially borrowed, usually accepted by its owner / creator without much personal verification and consequently enslaving its owner / creator. Only by incorporating self validated ideas from many sources is it possible to become free of the obsessive aspects of one’s belief system and to be a true self, with a true, individuality based belief system, un-divided and at least potentially un-dividable.
A set of originally Conscious but subsequently Sub Conscious Interfacing Beliefs and Attitudes which, on a moment by moment basis throughout one’s life, stimulate corresponding Emotions, leading to corresponding Choices (Options) and consequent Decisions. The Identity assumed by the Entity. Each Belief is either originated by the person concerned, based upon actual Experience or received from others, based upon nothing more than Blind Faith, which the person integrates into their already existing Beliefs, accumulated since birth. Man is most dangerous when he uses a Belief System (Identity) to justify his actions. Management Responsibility can never be assigned to any type of system.
Book One
This refers to the book “Dianetics, The Science of Mental Health”, the first book published by L.Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology.
Bottom Line
The deadly price you think you have to pay for success, which you continually pay without getting the success and which you have no need to pay in the first place. It eventually devours you. Originally based upon things that happened to you but now done consciously. They include Control, Fear of Loneliness, Fear of Intimacy, Shame, Narcissism, Martyr-hood and Pride.
Your bottom line is a debilitating component of your personality. If you master your emotions and give up your bottom line, although it is painful at first, success is actually assured rather than prevented. The bottom line thinking is "Control is preferable to Success", Fear of Loneliness is preferable to ??, .
Chakra
There are seven very different spiritual energies that enable a human being to operate. They operate at different levels in the human body, these being (1) The coccyx, (2) The Genitals, (3) The Belly, (4) The Heart, (5) The Throat, (6) The Brow and (7) The Crown.
(1) The first chakra, at the coccyx, relates to the earth archetype and physical needs.
(2) The second chakra, at the genitals, relates to the water archetype, sexuality and security needs.
(3) The third chakra, at the belly, relates to the fire archetype, sociality and relationships
(4) The fourth chakra, at the heart, relates to the air archetype, self esteem and emotion.
(5) The fifth chakra at the throat, relates to communications and inspiration
(6) The sixth chakra, relates to the brow or third eye, understanding, and creativity
(7) The seventh chakra, relates to the crown, to knowing and soul completion
Chakra Energies – Higher
The energies of the fifth, sixth and seventh chakras, the energising of which enables the godlike qualities inherent in humans to be manifested.
Chakra Energies – Lower
The energies of the first, second and third chakras, the energising of which enable the fourth (Christ Energy) chakra to be energised and the route to inspiration, creativity and self realisation to be opened up.
Chakra System
The inter-relationships between the seven chakra in their function of sustaining the body, improving the mind and evolving the soul.
Characteristics
One of three aspects needed to effectively describe anything, the others being features and attributes. A characteristic is any routinely observable action relating to the item described. i.e., not a physical feature and not an abstract attribute.
Childhood
One of the stages through which each person passes on their life’s journey. During childhood we absorb the influences of our environment and become, to all intents and purposes, nothing more than a reflection of our parents, teachers and peers. It is consequently the time when we develop a personality, an illusory and mask like protective self.
CLEAR- scientology word for a state of being
Responsable conscious creator of your personal life.
Comprehend
The action required to understand (linear, belief based illusory reality) and eventually to know (multi linear, experience based genuine spiritual reality).
Conception
The creation by aware will of Consciousness (i.e. a system of explanatory beliefs), hopefully in ever increasing alignment with instinct and emotion. When Consciousness is eventually aligned with all three (instinct, emotion and intellect) the result is individual Aware-Will-Knowingness, which is the same as individual omniscience.
Conceptual
Relating to the analysis of incoming concrete and abstract perceptions relating to experienced phenomena and to the corresponding construction of mental and emotional interpretations.
Confident, Unique, Loving Excellence
The Spiritual Foundation of all Human Empowerment. An in depth understanding of these Qualities, plus their application in Life will change you forever.
Conscious
That aspect of consciousness that is permanently available. “Conscious consciousness” is a synergy of awareness, willpower and knowing. It is the opposite of unaware, robotically operating belief system illusion. An understanding, experience and knowledge of how the many levels of conscious, sub conscious and super conscious mind inter relate with each other in their support of individual, group, planetary, solar and cosmic consciousness is of enormous value in undoing the self imposed limitations of self centred personality based existence.
Consciousness:
Consciousness (fully validated certainty)
An accumulated system of explanatory beliefs and attitudes, perceptions, perceptions, conceptions, choices and decisions, at all times motivated by conceived requirements, expectations and creative imagination, supervised to an evolving extent by Aware-Will, and eventually merging into the final outcome of evolution, which is the many levels of Aware-Will-Knowing.
Consciousness - human
The specific individual, family, group, racial, national and world consciousness towards which this life mastery web site is devoted relates specifically to human beings. The principles of consciousness that support life mastery apply to all living things but without personal experience of being each species there can be no certainty regarding how the principles actually operate in those other species.
Consciousness Trigger
Any word, phrase, concept or perception that has some connection with a situation in one’s life and which, when it is read, heard or otherwise perceived stimulates an associated area of the sub consciousness so that the associated ideas instantaneously manifest in the conscious mind.
Consideration
Thinking or intellectualising about the features, attributes or workings of something.
Context
The backdrop against which we perform our life roles. It is the context within which situations occur that enable us to develop belief systems, to experience the consequences of those belief systems and to eventually evolve the ability to fully know and be able to handle each and every situation immediately we find ourselves within it. Context enables us to be conscious of each situation from the viewpoint of each and everything within it. Our most magnificent context is the Earth within the solar system within the Milk Way Galaxy within our section of our universe and all within the Cosmos.
Cosmology
Any belief system that includes an explanatory basis for the existence of the Cosmos. Unless a belief system includes at least one explanation of the existence of the Cosmos, the life long context of the person to whom the belief system relates stands almost no chance of achieving any significant degree of Life Mastery. Such explanations, preferably more than just one of them, enable the believer to stretch their mind to encompass far more scope and content than is otherwise possible. The greater the differences between ones alternative cosmologies, the more chance of that person achieving alignment of the instinctual, emotional and intellectual aspects of consciousness.
Course
A three stage evolutionary process applicable to all situations, involving theory, implementation and realisation. At the beginning there is the theory, which may lead to understanding. Then there is the implementation, which may lead to experience. Finally there the realisation, which may lead to empowerment or mastery over all similar situations. Only awareness and will power ensures that theory is actually implemented and that implementations actually lead to realisation. It is thus the aware-will-consciousness that determines whether or not you will ever succeed at anything.
Cowardice
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as the deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves overwhelmingly more forceful others and which later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Cowardice or Counter Phobic Reckless Courage and all their associated restrictions, are positioned at point 6 on the 9 point enneagram.
Creation
Creation is a course in which everything is created twice, once by The Creator, in physical / spiritual terms, and subsequently by each and every human being, in their own mental and emotional terms. These two separate stages comprise the theory and implementation steps of the evolutionary course of each and everything. The third stage is their alignment with each other, leading to godlike creatures in a God created Cosmos. Please note that the word God is a pseudonym.
Creativity
The ability to be at cause over physical, mental, emotional and spiritual existence. A capability that all humans possess but which they are only able to manifest as an ability when the preceding five of the person’s seven needs have been to some extent satisfied. Satisfaction of all seven needs corresponds with the attainment of life mastery
Cynicism
A human tendency to defend the self by automatically opposing everything that is suggested by anyone else. Cynicism is a most important subject that, if sufficiently understood, experienced and recognised will enable unity in diversity to become established as the norm in human society. It invariably includes the idea that nothing can be done to improve situations; and that all possible solutions are beyond the ability of the cynic to do anything about. Cynicism provides a universal excuse for doing nothing, or as near to nothing as makes no difference. Cynicism is a mechanism that avoids responsibility for everything. Scepticism to a certain extent provides a solution to cynicism but the complete solution lies in completely exposing each situation for all to see. A sceptic will only destroy cynicism if he or she understands that cynicism is a very valuable protection mechanism for the fearful. The nature of this conceived protection needs to be understood before scepticism effectively destroys cynicism.
Deadly Sins
There are actually nine deadly sins, not just seven. The usual seven are Anger, Pride, Envy, Greed, Gluttony, Lust and Sloth. The two the Christians forgot to mention are Deception and Fear. Life Mastery can be described as the transformation of each of these nine sins or passions into its corresponding virtue. Christians call it salvation. Psychologists call it personal transformation. I call it life mastery. Each engrained habit or sin is a direct consequence of experiences during infancy, childhood, adolescence and young adulthood, during which time the so called sin was the optimum way for the infant, child, adolescent or young adult to protect themselves against the situations in which they found themselves. The patterns became stuck, messing up their subsequent lives as a consequence.
Death
Death is an opportunity for those who remain, to renew their appreciation of each other, to renew their communications with each other and to renew their celebration of life. Our lives start as a mystery and finish the same way. Each mystery presents a challenge, and in the case of death a mystery and challenge that only be solved by contemplating the probable meaning of life. What to think about it. Life and death are polarities in consciousness. But what is consciousness. It is that most valuable product that we create for ourselves, with our self created, sometimes borrowed and many times rejected beliefs and attitudes, perceptions and conceptions, choices and decisions, all supported by our requirements, imaginations and expectations. Life mastery requires the creation of a balanced consciousness, in which both life and death are seen as of mutual value to each other, for without them, life as we know it would be impossible. Life mastery is therefore potentially the same as mastery over death.
Deception,
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as the deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves overwhelmingly more forceful others and which later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Deception is the same as lying. Deception and all its associated disadvantages, are positioned at point 3 on the 9 point enneagram.
Deception is one of the two “deadly sins” the Christians conveniently left out, the other is fear. The corresponding virtue to deception is Truth. The corresponding virtue to fear is courage.
Definition
A careful attempt to describe something. Although dictionaries are probably the most valuable source of intellectual enlightenment, their definitions are often very superficial. The definitions provided on this web site do not deviate from the meanings given in dictionaries but they are often restated in a manner more appropriate for the overall physical, mental, emotional and spiritual manner in which this web site is hopefully constructed. If this web site includes any deviation from the underlying meanings given in dictionaries, please contact the website for corrective action.
Dianetics
A word conjured up by L Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology to describe his “Science of Mental health”. Dianetics is a wonderful technology for which the Church of Scientology charges an absolutely unnecessary but very profitable fortune. It is worth what is charged for it but way beyond the means of most ordinary people, who often finish up very poor financially as a consequence. Life mastery need not be expensive.
Ego - Positive and Negative
The Sub Conscious Filtering and Evaluation System used by each person to analyze all incoming sensory information, to focus the attention of the person onto matters previously classified by the person as requiring attention and to prevent the attention of the person from being focused onto matters previously classified by the person as requiring avoidance. The positive ego provides objective indications but the negative ego is biased in many ways to avoid those things that really need attention and to attract attention to those things that are merely diversions and self invalidations.
E-meter
An electro-psycho-meter, A device that detects very small changes in the electrical resistance of a human body, the electrical resistance being associated with the interface between the sub conscious and conscious mind. An E-meter enables a trained helper to guide a spiritual seeker towards items that are nearly but not quite at the conscious level and which, if explored by the seeker, will assist him or her to achieve life mastery.
Emotional energy
See Energy – Emotional
Emotional Tone Scale
A sequence of rising and falling emotions, up and down which each human being automatically moves, in accordance with current internal and external circumstances. Refer to the article “The Emotional Tone Scale” in the “Life Mastery Series” section of this web site.
Empowerment – Individual
This means full satisfaction of all the seven needs. Individual empowerment is the same as life mastery.
Enneagram
An enneagram is a diagram that supports the understanding of any process, including that of life itself. It is most commonly used to study personality.
Enneagram system
The enneagram system facilitates observation of the obsessive qualities that we have adopted, as vulnerable infants, children, adolescents and young adults, in order to protect ourselves. Instead of abandoning the habits when they are no longer supportive, we hang on to them, blindly assuming that everything we found necessary when younger still applies to the present. We finish up stuck in the past. Realisation of how this has been affecting us enables us to become free again.
Enneagram Type
One of nine types of personality chosen by ourselves. Each type brings together a whole package of characteristics and attributes, the obsessive nature of which package needs to be sufficiently understood before automatically releases its hold over the person and is replaced by the free choice characteristics and attributes associated with life mastery.
Enneagram Type One: The Perfectionist believes you must be good and right to be worthy. Consequently, Perfectionists are conscientious, responsible, improvement-oriented and self-controlled, but also can be critical, resentful and self-judging.
Enneagram Type Two: The Giver believes you must give fully to others to be loved. Consequently, Givers are caring, helpful, supportive and relationship-oriented, but also can be prideful, overly intrusive and demanding.
Enneagram Type Three: The Performer believes you must accomplish and succeed to be loved. Consequently, Performers are industrious, fast-paced, goal-focused and efficiency-oriented, but also can be inattentive to feelings, impatient and image-driven.
Enneagram Type Four: The Romantic believes you must obtain the longed for ideal relationship or situation to be loved. Consequently, Romantics are idealistic, deeply feeling, empathetic and authentic to self, but also dramatic, moody and sometimes self-absorbed.
Enneagram Type Five: The Observer believes you must protect yourself from a world that demands too much and gives too little to assure life. Consequently, Observers seek self-sufficiency and are non-demanding, analytic/thoughtful and unobtrusive, but also can be withholding, detached and overly private.
Enneagram Type Six: The Loyal Sceptic believes you must gain protection and security in a hazardous world you just can’t trust. Consequently, Loyal Sceptics are themselves trustworthy, inquisitive, good friends and questioning, but also can be overly doubtful, accusatory and fearful.
Enneagram Type Seven: The Epicure believes you must keep life up and open to assure a good life. Consequently, Epicures seek pleasure and possibilities, and are optimistic, upbeat and adventurous, but also can avoid pain and be uncommitted and self-serving.
Enneagram Type Eight: The Protector believes you must be strong and powerful to assure protection and regard in a tough world. Consequently, Protectors seek justice and are direct, strong and action-oriented, but also overly impactful, excessive and sometimes impulsive.
Enneagram Type Nine: The Mediator believes that to be loved and valued you must blend in and go along to get along. Consequently, Mediators seek harmony and are self-forgetting, comfortable and steady, but also avoid conflicts and can be stubborn.
Energy
Any Positive, Negative or Neutral motivating influence. In the creatures of The Earth, there are at least seven apparently different intensities of energy, corresponding to the motivating influences of the seven chakras and to the motivating energies that drive all other parallel phenomena, including those relating to life mastery (which is unconditional love). In terms of life mastery there is only unconditional love. Conditional love is affinity, not love, because it includes conditions. i.e. resistance to love, which is fear. At the unattainable level of absolute life mastery, there is no positive or negative, only being-ness (awareness), doing-ness (power of will) and having-ness.
Each level of energy has its own positive, negative and neutral possibilities. Life mastery includes the ability to consciously choose between positive, negative and neutral at all levels, from the first, which is the level at which earth (not The Earth) exists, right up to the seventh, which in a human being corresponds with life mastery. The Earth itself exists at a much more powerful level of aware-will-consciousness than the seven levels at which human beings can be observed to exist.
Energy - Creative
Energy corresponding with the energy level of the sixth chakra, which energy, if sufficiently supported by the preceding lower chakra energies, facilitates physical, mental, emotional and spiritual creativity. Alignment of all chakras corresponds with the achievement of life mastery
Energy – Emotional
This is the energy of the heart chakra. If sufficiently supported by the preceding lower chakras, this energy facilitates self esteem, which is the same as spirit in action. Self esteem includes the seekers feelings of self worth, self love, self confidence and self image. The energy of the heart chakra also supports alignment between the lower chakras (which sustain physical existence) and the higher chakras (which sustain spiritual existence). Alignment of all chakras corresponds with the achievement of life mastery
Energy – Esteeming
Energy corresponding with the energy level of the fourth chakra which energy, if sufficiently supported by the preceding lower chakra energies, facilitates physical, mental, emotional and spiritual appreciation. Alignment of all chakras corresponds with the achievement of life mastery
Energy – Inspirational
Energy corresponding with the energy level of the fifth chakra, which energy, if sufficiently supported by the preceding lower chakra energies, facilitates physical, mental, emotional and spiritual inspiration. Alignment of all chakras corresponds with the achievement of life mastery
Energy – Mental
Energy corresponding with the energy level of the sixth chakra. which energy, if sufficiently supported by the preceding lower chakra energies, facilitates physical, mental, emotional and spiritual creativity. If unsupported by the preceding chakras, mental energy is only sufficient to support a personality based belief system. Life mastery is based on individuality, not personality.
Energy - Physical
Energy corresponding with the combined energy levels of the lower (first, second and third) chakras. If mutually supportive, they facilitate the satisfaction of physical, security and relationship needs. If unsupportive their energies are only sufficient to support the physical, security and relationship obsessions of a personality based belief system.
Energy - Security
Energy corresponding with the second chakra. Security includes that applicable to physical (body) survival, sexual (ongoing survival) and relationships (social survival).
Energy – Sexual
An aspect of security energy.
Energy - Societal
Energy corresponding with the third chakra. Includes the energy needed to maintain relationships.
Energy - Spiritual
This is probably not an energy as such, because it does not involve effort, only effortless will power. It can be regarded as the energy of success and joy, neither or which energies are really energies, only postulates that cause creations to be, to do and to otherwise exist. Will power involves decision, which implies choices, which imply perceptions and conceptions, which imply beliefs and attitudes, all driven by need, imagination and expectation.
Envy
One of the nine shadow issues (obsessive practices) that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves and which later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Envy and all its associated restrictions, are positioned at point 4 on the 9 point enneagram.
See: http://www.enneagramworldwide.com/explore-the-enneagram/what-is-the-enneagram/
Eternal truth - verbalised
Eternal truth is how things really are, all in accordance at all times with the universal principles we recognise as natural law, The only way we ever experience eternal truth is to realise that every personal, family, group and other belief system on Earth comprises meticulously arranged untruth.
The layers of untruth are expediently created by ourselves and verbalised to others, mis representing truth order, in our imaginations, to empower ourselves.
Belief systems are essential but they actually lead only very approximately towards eternal truth. The birth gift of Aware-Will, plus an ongoing decision to abandon lies and instead to maximise truth within our personal belief systems lead us to Eternal Truth. Each belief can then be described in terms of experienced universal principle, with each lie replaced by a truth. Life mastery results.
Ethics
A scale of intellectual considerations regarding the effectiveness with which any situation is addressed, ranging between total knowingness (omniscience) and total mystery regarding that situation. Part of this scale relates to beliefs, which are partially validated intellectual considerations. Only when instinctual, intellectual and emotional considerations correspond with each other does omniscience start to appear as intuition. Compare with definition of Aesthetics. Love is the highest product of aesthetics and Trust is the highest product of Ethics.
Evolutionary Levels of Man
(1) Physical Man - A man in whom the moving or instinctive centres predominate over the intellectual and emotional.
(2) Emotional Man – A man in whom the emotional centre predominates over the intellectual, moving and instinctive.
(3) Intellectual Man – A man in whom the intellectual centre predominates over the emotional, moving and instinctive.
(4) Not born as such – A product of “school” culture. He differs fro man nos. 1, 2 & 3 by his knowledge of himself, by his understanding of his position and by his having acquired a permanent “centre of gravity”. This means that the idea of acquiring unity, consciousness, permanent “I”, and will – that is the idea of his development – has become for him more important than his other interests.
(5) Not born as such – A man who has acquired unity and self consciousness. He is different from ordinary man, because in him, one of the higher centres already works, and he has many functions and powers that an ordinary man – that is man no. 1, 2 & 3 do not possess.
(6) Not born as such – A man who has acquired objective consciousness. Another higher centre works in him. He possesses many more new faculties and powers, beyond the understanding of an ordinary man.
(7) Not born as such – A man who has attained all that a man can attain. He has a permanent “I” and “Free Will”. He can control all the states of consciousness in himself and he already cannot lose anything he has acquired. According to another description, he is immortal within the limits of the solar system.
Fear
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as the deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves overwhelmingly more forceful others and which later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Fear is one of the two “deadly sins” the Christians left out, the other being deception. The corresponding virtue to fear is love. The corresponding virtue to deception is truth.
Feature
A physically perceivable phenomenon that relates to something either perceived or conceived, such as a human body or a universe,
Future - individually intended
The future that inevitably results from the decisions intended by an individual. Within the context of a world that “does its own thing”, each human being creates their own future, based upon their self created belief system, which includes decisions regarding every moment of their existence.

Gluttony
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves against overwhelmingly more forceful others and which obsessions later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Gluttony and all its associated restrictions are positioned at point 4 on the 9 point enneagram.
Happiness Rundown
A specific series of Scientology processes.
Ideas for Contemplation
One of the sections into which this web site is divided. Some ideas are more valuable than others in the generation of an integrated belief system and consequently in the evolution of personal life mastery. Examples include “Everything you experience is an exact reflection of the state of your consciousness”, “The map is not the same thing as the territory it describes”, “Awareness plus limit equals Consciousness”
Infancy
One of the distinctly different stages through which we pass on our life’s journey.
Influences from the Past
Personal, family, group and racial memory has for millennia determined our behaviour. For the last two centuries this control has been weakening. Since the 1980s the influence of the future has become dominant. There is an ongoing mental and emotional battle in progress between those who are trying to hold on to the past and those who view dependency upon a self generated future as more relevant than an “other determined” past.
Inspiration
Physical inspiration is the same as communication. Mental inspiration is the same as thinking. Emotional inspiration is the same as feeling. Spiritual inspiration is the same as intuition.
Instinct
A stimulus response, physical universe and DNA related mechanism contained with the physical body of each living creature, which through the evolution of Consciousness in human beings of all seven levels, is gradually replaced by intuition and eventually omniscience. See also Aware-Will, Aware-Will-Knowing, Being, Emotion, Intellect, Intuition, Knowing, Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Omniscience & Power.
Instinctual
Instinctual means anything driven by the energies of the lower chakras. This includes the drive to satisfy physical, security and relationship needs. The spiritual counterpart to instinct is intuition, which is driven by the upper chakras in order to satisfy inspirational, creativity and life mastery needs. Both sub sets are aligned by the forth (self esteem) chakra if and only if each sub group is already aligned within its sub group. Without self esteem, the needs of the upper chakras cannot be satisfied or aligned
Intellectual
This means two completely different things, depending upon which chakra sub set is dominant. Until self esteem, inspiration, creativity and life mastery are achieved, all intellect is in terms of the belief system. When these products of the fourth and upper chakras are satisfied, the belief system control is replaced by knowledge, which in turn is supported by all seven chakra energies.
Interpretation - personal
Personal interpretation means that interpretation of your perceptions is limited by your self created involvement with the originally beneficial but currently obsolete influences of the nine so called “passions” or “deadly sins” of anger, pride, deception, envy, greed, fear, gluttony, lust and sloth.
Intuition
The outcome of aligned Instinct, Emotion and Intellect. The more the alignment between these three aspects of Consciousness, the greater the level of Intuition.
Inspiration
The fifth need. The preceding four needs (physical, security, relationship and esteeming needs) are pre requisites for inspiration. See Seven Needs
Knowing:
True intellect. Immediately available aware-will-consciousness or knowledge of the subject within the limits of the seeker’s own universe. The eventual goal of evolution. See definitions of Awareness, Power of Will, Aware-Will, Aware-Will-Knowing, Being, Omnipresence, Omnipotence, Omniscience & Power.
Knowingness
Normally unavailable consciousness of all subjects within the limits of the seeker’s own universe. Probably the same thing as the akashic record. Very rarely, under some circumstances, it is possible to directly access knowingness. The nearer on gets to life mastery the more it happens.
Knowledge
The same as Awareness, Willpower and Consciousness, unified into aware-will-consciousness.
Lazaris Materials
Taped material issued on a regular basis for many years by the organisation Concept Synergy, ostensibly by a group entity called Lazaris who “channels” the materials through American Jach Purcell. The material is of great value to anyone who wishes to study and experience the subject of life mastery.
Laziness
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as the deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves overwhelmingly more forceful others and which later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Laziness and all its associated disadvantages, are positioned at point 9 on the 9 point enneagram.
LIFE MASTER or OPERATING THETAN ( scientology word). Responsable conscious creator of your personal Universe. Someone that has achived complete mastery over the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual universe.
Life Mastery
The consequence of eliminating the nine Deadly Sins and satisfying the Seven Needs. Life mastery corresponds with complete physical, mental, emotional and spiritual alignment. It is an “absolute” that cannot be achieved completely whilst one is human, although major transformation is possible.
Life Mastery Programme
One of the sections into which this web site is divided. The words “Life Mastery Programme” refer only to the programme that any seeker chooses to set him or her self, making free use of the content of this web site. This site is arranged with the “tick-able” items at the top left hand corner of each page in a pre-programmed order.
Life Mastery Series
One of the sections into which this web site is divided. It consists of articles written on subjects relating to life mastery.
Life Mastery Suggestions
One of the sections into which this web site is divided. It consists of a description of the chakras, refers to archetypes, to the concept of a metaphysical trinity and to the nine components that make up a belief system.
Life Purpose
That purpose which for each human being most effectively combines the qualities of their life with the qualities of their environment.
The direction in which one’s combined Conscious, Subconscious and Unconscious mind causes your life to move. Unless you have Self Determined (Consciously specified and written down) goals and corresponding purposes, your life will do whatever your mind (at all levels) tells it to do.
The action of determining and continually updating your life purpose makes it possible for you to become the master of your own life. Otherwise you remain the victim of your enormously powerful but uncontrolled sub consciousness, with your Conscious Mind always trying to do its best but always losing out to the far more powerful Sub Conscious.
Love
The ability to be yourself. Unless you are subjectively able to be your entire self created subjective universe, unconditionally appreciating every facet of your creation, you cannot truly love yourself. To the extent that you can do that, you will discover that your appreciation of everything improves. Unconditional love would be the same as unconditionally appreciating or worshipping the All That Is.
Loving
Being yourself, a joyful and successful individual, on the way to life mastery.
Lust
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as the deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves against overwhelmingly more forceful others and which obsessions later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Lust and all its associated disadvantages, are positioned at point 4 on the 9 point enneagram.
Lying
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as the deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves against overwhelmingly more forceful others and which later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Lying is the same as Deception. Lying and all its associated disadvantages are positioned at point 3 on the 9 point enneagram.
Material
Anything with physical form
Matrix Film Trilogy
A fictional series with very true to life patterns. The observable fact that we are all manipulated by others for their own purposes is, in these films, portrayed as through mechanistic means, rather than through psychological means. A very thought provoking, albeit somewhat violent experience.
Melchisedek
The mysterious name of a Hebrew heavenly being who manifested on Earth at the same time as Abraham and who had considerable difficulty persuading the progenitor of the Hebrew race to stop stealing the land and property of his neighbours. Not much changes. Melchisedek is also my occult name, adopted as representative of someone who works towards the clarification of human understanding.
Mental energy
See “Chakra” and “Energy – Mental”
Miserliness
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves against overwhelmingly more forceful others and which obsessions later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Miserliness and all its associated restrictions, are positioned at point 5 on the 9 point enneagram.
Need
A need is something that is absolutely essential. Not a want and not a preference, each of which are important, but they are not needs. There are seven categories of genuine need, these being physical needs, security needs, relationship needs, esteeming needs, inspirational needs, creativity needs and self realisation or life mastery needs.
Need - Creativity
Making or bringing into existence, things that have never existed before.
Need - Esteeming
Self worth, self love, self confidence and self image together add up to self esteem. If we label others as worthless, we will sooner or later discover that we are also labelling ourselves as worthless. If we do not spread our love around as much as possible, then we will sooner or later discover that we are refusing also to love ourselves. Self confidence is a subject on its won but it is still an aspect of Self Esteem. Self Image fails unless supported by the other aspects of self esteem. Self esteem is the most important issue of all.
Need - Inspirational
After self esteem is established, the road gets easier and easier. The need for inspiration is easily satisfied, once the great barrier of self esteem has been handled. Inspiration frees up Creativity, which frees up Life Mastery with its independently determined aware-will-consciousness, immediate access to knowingness and effortless alignment with the nine virtues, etc.
Need - Physical
Genuine physical needs include food, clothing, accommodation, heat, light, etc. It is up to each seeker to decide where need ends and obsessive desire takes over. If the seeker gets it wrong, he or she only does so because they are not being honest with themselves, in which case they will not achieve life mastery.
Need – Security
Genuine security needs include the security, health and safety of physical things and relationships. Satisfactory security provides the basis for effective relationships. So physical, security and relationship needs are very connected to each other.
Need – Self Realisation
Genuine self realisation is the same as life mastery.
Need – Relationship
Within the lower chakra functions the existence of excellent relationships, following the satisfaction of physical and security needs, becomes the most supportive of all three. Satisfied physical, security and relationship needs are all that most people ever consider important. However, until self esteem has been addressed, the lower chakra functions are always at significant risk.
Nine Virtues
See Virtue
Numerology
The study of numbers in relation to their inherent qualities. The zero-ness of zero, the oneness of One, the two-ness of two etc.
For an introduction to the subject visit http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/science_of_dreams/82296
Omnipotence
A state of “All powerful-ness” in and by a particular entity. For a human being, omnipotence means knowing and willing power of decision over the self, including knowing and willing power of decision over that human being’s physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual creations. For the Creator of the Physical Cosmos it is similar, with the Creator exerting Knowing and Willing control over the entirety of Physical and Spiritual Creation. See definitions for Aware-Will, Aware-Will-Knowing, Being, Knowing, Omnipresence, Omniscience & Power.
Omniscience
A state of “All knowing-ness” and consequently absolute trust, in and by a particular entity. For a human being omniscience means knowing and willing consciousness of the self, including knowing and willing consciousness of that human being’s physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual creations. For The Creator of The Physical Cosmos it is similar, with the Creator’s Knowing and Willing Omniscient Consciousness of His-Her-Its own Self Created Physical Universe (i.e. the Omnipresent Universe of Being) and His/Her/Its own Self Created Spiritual Universe (the Omnipotent Universe of Loving)
The Creator creates the Physical and Spiritual Cosmos and each human uses their instinctual, emotional and intellectual abilities to create their own interpretative version of these. Each human therefore creates their own (version of) the physical and spiritual universe, plus their own unique emotional, intellectual and spiritual universe. Alignment of all four corresponds with Life Mastery. See definitions for Aware-Will, Aware-Will-Knowing, Being, Knowing, Omnipotence, Omnipresence & Power.
Parasitic Pride
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves against overwhelmingly more forceful others and which obsessions later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Parasitic Pride and all its associated disadvantages are positioned at point 2 on the 9 point enneagram.
Paths - Specific
Each religion, philosophy and even science can be considered to be a path from mystery to knowledge. Each person’s perceptions, thoughts, choices and decisions change from moment to moment, so it is extremely doubtful that a continuous stream of such continuously varying qualities can actually be considered to be a path. Nevertheless the idea of a self chosen path from mystery to knowledge has a high level of workability, which is probably why so many choose to think of the activities of their lives as constituting a path. The owner of this web site intentionally explored paths that were as far apart as possible, in order to more effectively distinguish between those that were close to truth from those that were less close.
Perception
Incoming vibrations of sound, smell, sight, temperature and contact etcetera, prior to the recipient having anything to with recognising, interpreting or in any other way drawing conclusions regarding them. The word perception is sometimes confusingly used to mean the recipient’s conclusions but the activity of drawing conclusions is better identified as conception. The person is rarely responsible for incoming vibrations but most certainly is responsible for deciding what to do about them.
An incoming physical, mental, emotional or spiritual impact that is detected by one or more of the body’s various observation related and mostly sub conscious mechanisms prior to being filtered through the person’s consciousness to determine, in accordance with the person’s belief system, whether that particular incoming signal should be ignored or noticed. Most incoming perceptions are handled automatically by the sub conscious mind but those which are deemed sufficiently significant are automatically referred to the conscious mind so that more conscious recognition, communication and action may take place. It is only these perceptions around which the conscious mind wraps corresponding conceptions, these leading to a modification or confirmation of existing beliefs and attitudes, feelings and thoughts, options and decisions. Key determinants as to whether a perception is considered significant are needs, wants and preferences, imagination and expectations, all of which are also part of the person’s belief system.
Perceptual
Relating to perception.
Polar Dynamics
A well connected (i.e., verifiable) correspondence between the concept that everything spiritual, physical, mental and reactive is comprised of polarities and that aware-will (the essence of each living being) divides the spiritual “void” (the ineffable) into a hierarchy of embryonic consciousness polarities that constitute the spiritual, physical, mental and ego levels of all existence.
Some beings operate from the manifested spiritual level (corresponding with type 4 belief systems), some from the physical level (type three belief systems), some from the mental level (type two) and the remainder from the reactive or ego (type one) level of existence.
Each level of the polarised void creates its own ideas regarding the nature of the four levels of creation. Each considers that they are operating from the spiritual level and to ensure that they never become aware that they are creating themselves from the viewpoint of one of the other levels. The further from the manifested spiritual they can create themselves the more solid their reality appears to be. Higher levels can operate at lower levels but not visa versa.
The primary basis of existence that emerges from the ineffable void involves order v chaos; beautifulness v ugliness; manifestation v un-manifestation and ethics v un-ethicalness. Those operating from this spiritual level change their considerations to suit the prevailing situation. It is the nearest to complete life mastery that anyone is likely to get whilst operating as a human, because life mastery is itself ineffable, even though I am trying to describe it.
The physical basis that emerges from embryonic four aspect consciousness involves sizes of space, energy fields, densities of spaces and energy motions, Those operating from this level tend to depend upon measurement and upon very fixed, apparently logical explanations of everything.
The Belief System operational basis involves beings, anchors, consciousnesses and viewpoints, Those operating from this level tend to depend upon social belief systems, convention, etc.
The Ego level basis involves life v death, freedom v slavery, survival v non survival and affinity v hate. Those operating from this operational level tend to depend upon self created reactions to fear, anger, etc.
All human beings are capable of manifesting on all four levels. Most don’t do that. Self esteem is the limiting factor to attainment of a type four belief system.
Process
Any sequence that includes starting, changing and stopping at the same point where it started is a process. Plan, do, check and improve is a process because it can keep on going forever. A piece of music, when played becomes a process of playing the right notes until they have all been played, at which point one might, if one wished, start all over again.
Power
An absence of external restriction and limitation that depends only upon the inward determination of the subject whether or not it will act. An aspect of Principle Centered Leadership. Whereas Force involves effort, Power is effortless. The two terms are very often confused with each other. Life Mastery or Essence is powerful, whereas Personality tends to be Forceful. Power is one way of describing the end result of evolution. It is the end result of Understanding, converted through experience, into Knowledge. This is the same as Spiritual Power or Omniscience. See definitions for Aware-Will, Aware-Will-Knowing, Being, Knowing, Omnipotence, Omnipresence & Omniscience.
Power of will
An ability that we all have at birth but which we are forced to abandon by parents, teachers & peers in exchange for their support. Life mastery depends upon its recovery.
Preferences
One of the three types of requirement, these being needs, wants and preferences. Needs are essential, wants are purely obsessive and preferences cause life to be wonderful. There is nothing obsessive about preferences, which makes it possible to enjoy having lots of them. This in turn makes it more likely that preferences will in fact manifest in our lives. By eliminating want and replacing it with many preferences, life becomes far more user friendly.
Pride
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves against overwhelmingly more forceful others and which obsessions later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Pride and all its associated disadvantages are positioned at point 2 on the 9 point enneagram.
Process
Any naturally recurring sequence. The entire Cosmos consists of processes. Conception is a process, Birth is a process, Infancy, childhood and adolescence are processes. Life itself is a process. Evolution is a process.
Psychological type
(1) Compulsive Personality, (e/g/ excessive frugality, obstinacy, cleanliness, etc)
(2) Hysteria / Dependent Personality. E.g. extreme emotional instability, getting everyone to take responsibility for the Helper
(3) Workaholic; Manic Depression, e.g. alternate Elation and Depression
(5) Avoidant Personality, e.g. hypersensitivity to rejection, refusing relationships unless uncritically accepting.
(6) Anxiety Disorder, Paranoid Schizophrenia, e.g., panic, fear, post traumatic stress, rationalised delusions.
(7) Narcissism, e.g. self admiration to the detriment of others
(8) Sociopath, e.g. disturbed social relationships, antisocial personality
(9) Obsessive, Passive Aggressive Personality
Purification Rundown
A series of Scientology processes used for body detoxification purposes.
Reality
An aspect of Understanding, which is a synergy of Affinity, Communication and Reality. Each person creates their own reality, based on what is actually perceived but with that perception bent every which way by ones accumulated beliefs relating to the subject of the reality.
Reality – Experiential
A reality that is maximally “in the present moment”, achieved through meditation, self observation etc. One of the products of life mastery.
Reality – Illusory
All realities are to some extent illusory, the most illusory being those at the ego level, the next at the belief system level (e.g. religion), the next at the physical level (e.g. scientists) and the highest (in human beings that is) at the spiritual level. All levels are essential for the evolution of consciousness.
Reality – Objective
A reality that results from honest perception of all four levels of existence, described from the spiritual level. The most objective scientist, for instance, is one who perceives at the physical level, conceives at the spiritual level & describes at the belief system level, ensuring that ego is minimised.
Reality – Subjective
A reality that is perceived, conceived, described and experienced from one or more of the lower three reality levels, lacking the benefit of spiritual level validation. Inevitably, subjective realities incorporate incompletely validated conclusions from the physical reality, belief system reality and ego reality levels of reality creation.
Reality - Truth Based
A truth based reality is the same as an objective reality.
Reality - Shifting
Shifting the seeker’s viewpoint of a chosen subject, by enabling them to experience the chosen subject from the many viewpoints of different but related other subjects, such as other similar situations, objects, people, times and places.
Relationship needs
Needs relating to the belly, to the fire archetype, to sociality and to relationships
Responsibility
The ability, willingness and obligation to respond to a situation. In the absence of the ability to respond, or the absence of willingness to respond or the absence of any obligation to respond, one cannot be responsible. To attempt to be “responsible” under such circumstances is a pretence, Assigned duty is not the same as responsibility. It implies an obligation but does not necessarily meaning that there IS any such obligation. Having a clear understanding, experience and certainty as to what responsibility means is very important to Life Mastery.
Scale
Like musical scales, which obey the same principles, there are scales for tone, emotion, affinity, reality, communication and a know to mystery scale. Human beings live at certain levels on these scales and life mastery becomes more possible if one knows how they all fit together with each other.
Scientology
A very comprehensive, detailed and relatively successful attempt to be scientific and objective about physical, mental, emotional and spiritual existence. A valuable but, unless you are a millionaire, ridiculously expensive jumping off point for discovering much more than it actually includes. But never despise it, for it makes available much more truth than its own members realise. Only by aligning its teachings with all other belief systems does it really come alive. In the absence of alignment with all other religions, including alignment with Cosmic Consciousness, it remains just one more fundamentalist cult.
Sea Organization
The core of the Church of Scientology, comprising those who have abandoned their ordinary lives and who become livelong “evangelists” for Scientology, brainwashed into believing that the third dynamic (group relationships) is more fundamental than the other acknowledged nine. There are actually sixteen dynamics but Scientology only identifies ten. Strangely, the ninth and tenth are aesthetics and ethics. Scientology shows little appreciation of the aesthetic side of life but on the other hand total fanaticism on the subject of ethics, which they interpret in an extremely organisationally focused and unethical manner.
Security needs
See Need - Security
Self Assessment
An essential first step on ones path to life mastery. Objectivity is important and this is not easy when one is assessing oneself. By using any assessment system that enables the seeker to provide all the input, that provides meaningful quantification of the results and that can be repeated at a later date, the seeker can assess his or her current state. The enneagram system is recommended because it directly ties back to the nine passions that cause us to deviate from our most advantageous paths through life and also directly corresponds with the qualities to be developed within the subject of life mastery.
Self Contained Individual
A person who chooses their own path, and who balances their own needs against the needs of others in order to make balanced decisions.
Self Empowerment
The process by which ongoing satisfaction of a persons needs is achieved. For a Christian it is called salvation, for others it is called self empowerment. I call it life mastery.
Self
There are two selves. The first is the true but usually unnoticed self that you were when you were born and which, in fact you remain. The second is the self created illusory self, based upon everything you have persuaded yourself to believe, which usually rules your life. Life mastery returns to your true self the power you gave away to your belief system and its illusory self.
Self Confidence
One of the component parts of Self Esteem. See article in Life Mastery Series
Self Esteem
An ongoing mental and emotional combined assessment of a person’s Self Worth, Self Love, Self Confidence and Self Image. See article in Life Mastery Series

Seven Needs - The:
Physical, (2) Security, (3) Relationship, (4) Esteeming, (5) Inspirational, (6) Creativity and (7) Self Realisation, all of which must be satisfied in order to achieve Life Mastery,
Shadow Issues
(1) Wrath (Violent Anger; Self Righteous Indignation)
(2) Parasitic Pride (Pride derived from others, not Self),
(3) Deception or Lying
(4) Envy
(5) Miserliness
(6) Cowardice or Counter Phobic Reckless Courage
(7) Gluttony
(8) Lust - use of others as objects
(9) Laziness.
Sixteen Dynamics - The
Consciousness tends to be divided by human beings in countless ways. It is sometimes divided into the conscious, the sub conscious and the super conscious. Another useful way of dividing Consciousness, so that levels of existence may be explored is to use the concept of sixteen dynamics or motivating energies. These are based upon the idea that consciousness (conscious, sub conscious and super-conscious combined) operates at different levels (1) personal, (2) sexual, (3) family, group and race, (4) all humanity, (5) all animals, (6) all living creatures, (7) all material, energy, space and time and (8) Philosophical, Religious, Spiritual and all other consciousness that integrates the concept of Creation with All That Physically Is.
However 8 additional more spiritually related levels provide an extension of this useful sequence of 8, enabling religious, spiritual considerations to be applied in a more meaningful manner. These have been suggested as comprising (9) Aesthetics, (10) Ethics, (11) Constructive ideas, (12) Reason, (13) Change, (14) Games, (15) Knowingness and (16) Creation. There is a significant correspondence between (1) and (9), (2) and (10), (3) and (11) etc. that enables further valuable observations to be incorporated into ones understanding and experience.
It has also been suggested that (11) through to (16) might instead be (11) decency, (12) truth, (13) awareness, (14) individuality, (15) co-existence and (16) aware will that is not being.
This apparent conflict needs to be resolved.
Sloth
One of the nine obsessive practices, also known as deadly sins, that we tend to adopt when we are infants, children, adolescents or young adults in order to protect ourselves against overwhelmingly more forceful others and which obsessions later on cause us to act in an unhelpful manner towards ourselves and others. Sloth and all its associated disadvantages are positioned at point 9 on the 9 point enneagram.
Societal pattern of the past
The network of family traditions, geographically related belief systems, politics, religions and philosophies that have dominated the lives of humanity in the past. The power of these control mechanisms is disintegrating as people increasingly reject all forms of external domination, seeking instead for the true individuality of natural unity in diversity.
Soul
The accumulated spiritually aligned consciousness (reflecting a corresponding spiritually aligned belief system) created by each person during their life time. The spiritually aligned aspect of each person that continues as the basis for ongoing existence, into the spiritual universe when the person leaves their earthly body. Each person creates their own possible, probable or even certain immortality in accordance with the degree to which they create their own understanding, experience their own situations, take their own control and take maximum responsibility for their belief system, their life and its exactly mirroring consciousness.
Study Technology
This refers to the three phenomena of misunderstood words, excessive study gradients and absence of the mass relating to any subject. It includes the means by which any person may become super literate. A super literate, so far as this particular application of it is concerned, is able to think in terms of crystal clear mental image pictures, rather than in terms of hazy mental image pictures which are hazy because they are sub consciously attached to so many reactively associated emotions. Words in the person’s vocabulary may be systematically clarified so that no charge remains associated with that person’s vocabulary, so far as it relates to the particular. There are at least nine different ways of clarifying the words relating to any subject, the chosen way being dependent upon the number of words that need to be cleared for that particular subject. Super literacy involves the word clearing of the person’s entire vocabulary, not just that relating to individual subjects.
Sub Conscious
Anything that can be recalled is sub conscious prior to its being recalled. Many things cannot be recalled immediately because they are suppressed by accumulated charge. By wiping out the charge, more and more things can be recalled. Detecting the charge and allowing it to dissipate in an easily tolerable manner is what Auditing is all about.
Super Conscious
This is the area of Consciousness (sometimes called the unconscious) that remains to be experienced in order that the person may move on to higher levels of consciousness. The Conscious and the Sub Conscious are the areas of Single Level Consciousness that most directly affect our lives, but outside of those areas there are things at the same level of consciousness that remain to be recognised, experienced and known, which things the conscious and sub conscious know nothing about. As the Conscious mind is intentionally brought into alignment with the sub conscious mind, more and more previously unknown things move into the sub conscious and up into the conscious mind. Eventually the conscious, sub conscious and super conscious merge into a higher level of sub conscious, from which a similarly higher level of conscious and super conscious arise. Each level involves an are of super conscious, an area of sub conscious and an area of conscious mind.
Self Confidence
To Believe in and Trust completely. The formula for estimating one’s Self Confidence is {(Trust divided by Humility) plus Hope} all multiplied by Courage}.
Self Determinism:
The level of Consciousness at which one is able to continually specify, establish, improve and enjoy personal success.
Self Empowerment:
Systematic dis creation of your false self (Personality), plus a shift in viewpoint from that of your false self to that of a less false but still imagined Creator of The Cosmos. By intentionally adopting, as closely as your belief system will allow, the viewpoint of your assumed Creator of The Cosmos, your false self (Personality) begins to disintegrate and to be replaced by a new and more objective you. The mere assumption of the viewpoint of being the ongoing Creator of the world as you know it causes the past decisions that limit your life to be gradually replaced with more objective conclusions. Your ability to use your imagination to become anything you choose, and from that imagined viewpoint to expand your subjective experience of being that entity enables you to become increasingly the master of your own life. Needless to say, many other things happen at the same time.
Self Esteem
A continual and therefore usually unnoticed emotional estimate and subjective evaluation of the self. A value judgment regarding self merit which a person makes and adheres to. The love you believe you have earned. Self esteem involves determination to be powerful, ability to think and feel, evaluation of character, willingness to desire and seek understanding and meaning, to allow perception and conception of new things, Evaluation based on principle rather than on expediency, Ability to Integrate thought and feeling into action, Determination that you are not helpless.
The consequence of routinely accepting and honoring matters involving trust, without enforcement or supervision. If you fail to seek self Esteem, you will automatically seek false esteem.
Life is about growing. Self esteem provides the motivation. If you've got self esteem you grow. If you haven't, you don't. Reality turns on belief and choices. Self esteem is the driver which motivates between beliefs, attitudes, feelings, thoughts, decisions and choices, resulting in the creation of new realities and therefore new beliefs.
The capacity to survive depends upon the ability to reason. In other words, to think and feel in an integrated manner which enables one to have dominion. Every power we have comes from self evaluation. When we cease to self evaluate, we get taken over by those who do our evaluations for us.
Absence of self esteem is worse than death.
See also Self Confidence, Self Worth, Self Love and Self Image, all of which are inter dependent.
Self Interest
A personal quality which adversarial management systems wrongly define and consider undesirable and which partnership management systems define in a fit for purpose manner and actively seek to encourage.
Short term Interest in self to the detriment of others. A well established consequence of the adversarial society, based upon the fact that many people attempt to promote their own interests to the detriment of others.
Long term Interest in self to the parallel benefit of all involved. A less established but more fit for purpose definition, which includes recognition of the essential value of others in promoting one's own Interests and which consequently includes active and visible support to those other interests.
Self Love
The Ability to Love oneself. Very few can actually do it successfully. See also Love, Self Confidence, Self Determinism, Self Esteem, Self Interest and Self Worth.
Self Observation Practice
Paying attention to everything. Noticing whatever happens. Being open minded. curious about everything that is going on. Being aware of external events and Internal reactions. Dropping all fixed ideas on what you should be interested in, what is important and what is not. Whatever is, is an appropriate focus for observation. Which Feelings are aroused? Which effects, if any, do they have on the way you sense your body? Observe the Instinctual, the Emotional and the Physical as well as the Intellectual.
Practice observation and also subjectively being, while actually inhibiting naming or thinking about the things you are observing. Practice observation and being when suffering as well as when you feel fantastic.
Desire and Determine to know what really is, regardless of how you prefer things to be. Constantly reinforce this Desire and Determination because it goes against the tide of automated Processes of False Personality and easily weakens and is swept under unless you actively determine to know. It requires patience. There are enormous numbers of things to know and the commitment to Self Observation should really be a commitment to an Attitude to take actively for a Lifetime. In some ways it is hard work. However, it nourishes one of your most essential qualities, your Curiosity. Be Instinctive, Emotional, Intellectual and Spiritual, all at the same time.
Self Worth
The value to yourself and to the Cosmos, with which you were born and which you still have, even if you don’t know what constitutes that value. Your path tp Life Mastery will include realisation of that value.
Spiritual energy
See Energy - Spiritual
Standard technology
The word “Scientology” means “knowing how to know” but the Church of Scientology equates this original meaning with the words “Standard Technology”. The principles and practice of “Knowing how to know” has been replaced by the organisational demands of “knowing what to believe”, providing an illusory foundation for the personal and group ego that now dominates the organisation.
Sub conscious
The aspect of consciousness that is more or less available whenever required but that does not impinge on the conscious mind until it is reactively stimulated by one or more sufficiently important aspects of present time existence. An understanding, experience and knowledge of how the many levels of conscious, sub conscious and super conscious mind inter relate with each other in their support of individual, group, planetary, solar and cosmic consciousness is of enormous value in undoing the self imposed limitations of self centred personality based existence.
Super conscious
AN aspect of consciousness that is only available to those who have created enough alignment between the physical, security and relationship aspects of their lives. The achievement of this alignment leads to conscious realisation of the importance of that person’s self worth, self love, self confidence and self image to their achievement of life mastery, after which further alignment between their inspiration, creativity and life mastery is sufficient for direct knowingness to become a regularly conscious phenomenon.
Tao
The void or “nothingness” from which The Cosmos is assumed to have arisen. Various guesses regarding the exact manner in which nothing became something, the most common being the very observable concept of yin and yang. But other ideas on the subject, which are just as useful as a basis for understanding existence are also available. Polar Dynamics is one such belief system. The underlying principles of Numerology provide another way of explaining creation in a close to scientific manner.
Technology
The systematic means by which anything physical, mental, emotional or spiritual can be converted from a Subjective Reality (a belief) into an Objective Reality (a certainty)
Truth
Perfect alignment of the physical, the mental, the emotional and the spiritual. The spiritual is always true but we don’t know what it is. By aligning our own mental and emotional aspects with the physical, we finish up being in alignment also with the spiritual, because the physical is the nearest yet manifested approximation to the spiritual, from which it derives.
Trustworthy
Any person or other item that consistently and without exception demonstrates that it is reliable.
Unity in Diversity
Unity in diversity is one way to describe the unified manner in which the cosmos is constructed, with infinite levels and dimensions of created quanta, each consisting of unified diversity.
